Just like last year, I’ve taken hundred of photos over the year – way more than I could ever manage to use on this site. So to end the year, I’ve chosen a selection of my favourite photos from the past year that I never quite managed to fit into a blog post. The ‘best of the rest of 2012′ photos take us from the slopes of Méribel-Mottaret back at the start of the year, all the way through to the Titanic Exhibition in Belfast last weekend. Hope you enjoy them, and wishing you all a great New Year’s Eve and a fantastic 2013! Lucy x
After an epic year of travelling in 2011, with over a third of the year spent on the road, 2012 had a very tough act to follow. But although it might have lacked in quantity by comparison, it made up for in quality, with two of my travel wish-list trips ticked off and two new countries visited. It didn’t quite all go to plan though – at the start of the year I thought I’d be travelling around Canada and sailing the Norwegian fjords this year, but both of these trips had to be postponed due to a lack of time and money as I finally put down some permanent roots in April by buying a house in Cheltenham.
Back in January, I published this post with details of my travel plans for 2012. There was some skiing, some city breaks, a road trip and a cruise through the fjords – a pretty good year in store. And everything went to plan for the first few months of the year – skiing in Meribel-Mottaret in January, Champagne tasting in Reims in March, exploring Sorrento, Capri and Pompeii in Italy in April (though work meant I had to skip the TBU conference).
Last year was an epic travel year for me, and although it’ll be tough to beat 2011’s record of spending a third of the year travelling, it doesn’t mean I won’t be giving it a good go. 2012’s also going to be an expensive year with house-buying on the agenda, but I’ve still got to have a few trips to keep me going! After most of last year’s travels were back to countries I’d been to before, this year I hope to add a few new ones to the list, as well as ticking off at least one of my top-five travel wish-list trips.

We rounded a corner and there in the road essentially right in front of us were the painted forms of a pack of wild…
